MDWFA Awards Ceremony 2008 - held at Victoria Park, Buckie

For the first ever time, The Moray District Welfare Football Association held an Awards Ceremony to recognise outstanding players and clubs over the course of the season.

The Awards Ceremony took place after the Planwell Cup Final in the Function Hall at Victoria Park, Buckie.  League President Colin Souter thanked everyone in attendance and gave an overview of the season, describing it as an 'overwhelming success.' He went on to thank his fellow Executive Committee Members for all their help throughout the campaign. All clubs who won either cup competitions or their respective League Championship were then officially presented with their trophies.

Then it was to the most interesting part of the evening as the solo Award Winners were announced. League Treasurer JJ Jones firstly presented the 'Most Shut-Outs over the Season' to Aberlour Villa (Premier Division) and Portsoy F.C. (First Division). Match Secretary John Campbell firstly thanked the Moray and Banff Referee's Association for their co-operation over the course of the year. He then presented the 'Top Goalscorer' Awards to Gary Burr of Bishopmill Villa (Premier Division) and Stephen Mitchell of the Brander Arms (First Division). Then it was over to the Player of The Year for both Divisions, decided by players getting the most man of the match awards over the season. The Premier Division award was won by Andrew Young of Burghead United, who unfortunately wasn't in attendance. The First Division award, by a large margin, went to Gordon Robertson of St. Marnans.
