Semi Finalists Confirmed!

The Quarter Finals of the Mike Simpson Cup saw Springfield, Bishopmill Villa, Aberlour Villa and Portgordon Victoria through to the last 4. Springfield defeated fellow Division One side Elgin Albion 5-3; Bishopmill hit twelve against Hopeman with no reply; Aberlour Villa needed penalties to defeat Portsoy; while Portgordon Vics edged out Tomintoul by 2 goals to 1.

The semi final draw will take place on Monday night at the full council meeting.

Villa's Stumble But Rovers See First Top Flight Win!

On Tuesday night, two of Portgordon's title rivals could only manage a draw which see's the Vics sit 6 points clear at the top of the Premier Division. Aberlour Villa and Bishopmill Villa could only manage a 2-2 draw in a result which see's both stay unbeaten but lose out on the chance to cut Portgordon's lead at the top. Elsewhere in the division, Banff Rovers got their first win of the season since being promoted, beating Portsoy 4-3 at Canal Park.

Brander Continue Only 100% Record!

Brander FC are proving to be the form side of Moray Welfare football at the moment, as they notched up their 7th straight league win in Division One. Neil Paton's side won the Lossie derby on Tuesday night 6-3 to go 5 points clear at the summit of the division. Elsewhere in the division, Hopeman lost ground in the title race with a stumbling 2-2 home draw against Lhanbryde United; while St Marnans versus Newmill was called off after 65 mins due to a serious injury to Foggie's Chris Ross. 

On Sunday the 24th the scores in the First Division were as follows:
Cullen- 5, Elgin Albion- 4;  Lossie AFC- 0, Newmill- 7;  Springfield- 12, St Marnans- 1.

League Season Approaches!

20 Member clubs are registered, and therefore, both the Premier and the First Division will have 10 teams. In the Premier, coast sides Banff Rovers and Portsoy gear up for their return to the top flight after a near faultless 2008 season in Division One. Meanwhile, in the First Division, relegated sides from 2008; Newmill and Springfield will be looking for a good campaign after a very disappointing 2008 season.

The Moray District Welfare Football Association is affiliated to the Scottish Welfare Football Association which in turn is affiliated to the Scottish Football Association.

Our Association is one of the biggest in Scotland, with 20 club members. This is then divided into two leagues- The Premier and The First Division.
